A useful reference and a good read with it

I borrowed this book from my college library, and since then I have been trying to track down a copy of the 3rd edition for myself. Written by the editor of the Australian Journal of Chemistry, Robert Schoenfeld uses his fanatical love of the English language and experience in reading papers good and bad, to produce a series of short essays that describe how to ensure you say what you mean when you write scientific or technical articles. He is often witty far beyond you might expect for an ageing scientist, which makes his prose easy, enjoyable and interesting to read.I would recommend this book as a good read for anyone studying an undergraduate course in the physical sciences, anyone working to produce well-written papers for postgraduate courses, and anyone who has ever read or written anything and thought "isn't it funny that what it meant and what it said are completely different."
